The 16 miles roll continuously through 6 distinct climbs, adding up to 1,382 ft of gain without one dominant ascent. The main climb starts right off the line and runs 1.6 miles, gaining 655 ft at an average 7.7%. You finish 158 ft below the start, so an out-and-back saves the climbing for the return.
The route runs between Gateway and Chabot Recreation Center, roughly 1.7 miles apart. Facilities are marked at Redwood Regional Park - Moon Gate and Waterloo Staging area.
